Increasing Demand for New Energy Products & Services

A recent study from Stanford University (Environmental Preferences and Peer Effects in the Diffusion of Solar Photovoltaic Panels, Bryan Bollinger & Kenneth Gillingham, Stanford University (August 2010)) concluded that the diffusion rate of solar photovoltaic (PV) panel installations was influenced by the number of previous such installations in the same zip code and influenced even more by the number of previous installations on the same street, other things being equal. The conclusion was that peer effects played a significant role.

This is the heart of Clean Energy Durham’s work. Our goal is to speed up the rate of demand for products and services related to the new energy economy by identifying early adopters and inspiring and training them to share information with their neighbors.
