Neighborhood Energy Retrofit Program (NERP) volunteers taught 594 of their neighbors about cost effective energy saving projects selected by the City for homes participating in NERP.  In addition, volunteers taught neighbors how their homes use and lose energy, how they can reduce phantom energy loss, and numerous other energy saving tips.  Neighbors tested their energy knowledge in the popular Clean Energy Durham Energy BINGO game that encouraged them to switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs, keep the fridge full, and turn down the temperature on their water heater.  In addition to the 594 neighbors who attended the 1-hour basic energy workshop taught by volunteers, 65 more neighbors attended a 3-hour hands-on workshop to learn how to complete other energy saving projects in their home. Neighbors were excited to learn that the energy saving tips taught at the workshops could be completed for free or for very little money.
