Commuters in Action: Princess Ojiaku

June 28, 2010 at 1:34 pm 1 comment

Princess saves time, money and stress by avoiding parking hassles on NCCU's campus.

Princess Ojiaku is a graduate student at NCCU, pursuing a masters degree in neuroscience. She lives in Rockwood, and tries to commute to Central by bike as often as possible. She says parking is terrible on campus, and by biking she’s able to avoid the hassle of trying to find a space. The American Tobacco Trail goes right by NCCU, making for an easy commute from downtown or her neighborhood. After some trial and error, she found a good route that’s a little over a mile.

Last year, for ‘No Impact Week’ she challenged herself not to drive for a week, and found the experiment to be really fun. “It’s so cool to just use your own human power,” she says. “You have this feeling of accomplishment you don’t get when you drive.” Check out Princess’s blog, http://www.sciencewithmoxie.blogspot.com, where she focuses on the intersections between music and science.

Its fun riding a bike believe me not. I do the same 300 days a year to NCCU campus. I reaped the diet free of my bike and into completing my undergrad.
