Passionate NERP Volunteers

Neighborhood volunteers demonstrated passion, care and creativity during the Phase I Neighborhood Energy Retrofit Program (NERP) door to door trainings held throughout the month of May. In each neighborhood, from Spring Valley to East Durham to Hillside, the volunteers were enthusiastic about enrolling their neighbors in a program designed to reduce household energy use and save residents money. Volunteers were also very excited about working with other volunteers to create goodwill and build community in their neighborhoods.

Volunteers were not only eager to enroll eligible homes in the retrofit program, they also expressed equal passion in identifying resources for their neighbors who may not qualify for the program. Thanks to their care for their community, these volunteers will now also offer every neighbor, even those who don’t qualify for the NERP program, information on saving energy. The Phase I NERP volunteers have completed their door to door training and are now knocking on doors in their neighborhoods.
