New Series of Workshops in Hope Valley

Over the last few weeks, Bonnie and Jim Cox hosted our first series of in-home workshops in Hope Valley. For their first workshop, two weekends ago, a few neighbors learned about easy, do-it-yourself energy efficiency projects like cleaning underneath the fridge and caulking vents. One neighbor volunteered to become trained in using the PowerCost Monitor and be the PowerCost Monitor “guru” for the neighborhood. Neighbors at this workshop were so excited that they moved their planned May workshop up to last Monday night.
“It looks like we’ll have a full house next week,” said Bonnie, after the first workshop, “and we can move this neighborhood forward!”
A full house they had indeed. Neighbors from the first workshop returned enthusiastic about the projects they had done at home since the first workshop. Participation at the second workshop tripled. Neighbors learned more hands-on energy efficiency skills and helped Bonnie and Jim insulate their outlets. Bonnie and Jim made this workshop into a social event, complete with a drawing for a bottle of sustainable wine.
We’re looking forward to future workshops in Hope Valley. Contact us if you live in Hope Valley and would like to attend or host a series of workshops.
